Don't Go

A day like any other, Apollo left the apartment he shared with Clay (at least before the latter left to study in the hope of fulfilling his dream) and headed to his new workplace, the Wright Anything Agency.

Clearly, Apollo didn’t agree with the actions of his former boss, Kristoph… much less could he say that he missed him… but one thing he could admit to himself was that working at that agency was very different from working at Gavin & Co. When Apollo walked into the small office and found Trucy's dog eating leftover pizza off the floor, he wondered if that was a negative or positive change.

His boss, Phoenix, was asleep on the couch, in front of the TV which had a theatre play on, albeit paused. Apollo approached to take the remote out of his hands and remove the video.

Although after doing so… a sleeping Phoenix refused to let go of Apollo’s hand.

”Please…” Phoenix murmured. Apollo looked at him with reddened cheeks, and saw that his eyes were still tightly closed.

”He’s probably trying to tell me not to change what’s on TV,” Apollo rationalized in his thoughts.

“Please…” Phoenix continued, with his voice even softer, “Don't go, Apollo.”

“…Mr. Wright?”

Phoenix didn’t add anything else and weakly let go of Apollo’s hand, indicating that he had, once again, fallen completely asleep. Apollo looked at him one more time, with some disappointment and, after leaving the remote on the table, he bent down to say something as well.

“Don’t worry, I won’t,” he whispered.

Afterwards, he went to his desk to start his work for the day, near the phone in case a client called—as if nothing had happened.

As he focused on his job, he didn’t notice the smile tugging at Phoenix’s lips.
