Stars in Christmas

Even though it's winter on Christmas night, the Wright Anything Agency feels warm, thanks to the people there. On one hand, Trucy and Apollo are showing the rest a magic trick that they practiced for weeks, unfortunately for him. Athena is watching them with her friend, Juniper, but the way Athena looks at her so as not to miss a second of her beautiful smile hints that she secretly wants something more.

" It would be a great song ," Klavier thinks when he notices it.

The agency's tune is one he wants to be a part of, so when Apollo invited him to the party, he rejected his instinct to stay in his silent mansion reminiscing about the past, and accepted.

He is standing next to the two women, with them on his right and Miles and Franziska on his left. Phoenix is next to the latter, a safe distance from Klavier. The rest of the agency and associates get along well with Klavier, Phoenix being the only exception. However, Klavier isn't going to give up so easily. They've already taken the first step by discussing the events that led to his disbarment, and are on good terms now. How hard could it be to take the next one?

So, when the siblings finish their trick and everyone goes back to their own thing, Klavier approaches Phoenix, who is watching the stars through the window.

Phoenix notices him from his reflection, and his calm expression changes to one of... Fear? Anxiety?

"Hello, Mr. Wright, can I join you?"

Out of guilt, Klavier decided to start calling him "Mr" instead of "Herr", as a sign of respect. Phoenix, on the other hand, usually calls him some variant of "Rockstar" or "Star", clearly because of his profession. Although, a part of Klavier hopes that the latter is a way of showing affection.

"Oh, uh… sure, come on over."

Klavier stays next to him, leaning on a nearby desk.

"Watching the stars, huh? What do you like about them?" he asks, just to say something.

"They look so tiny, but they've been in the universe for so much longer than us... Isn't that cool?"

"It is. I didn't know you liked to think about those poetic things."

"Heh, I studied Art as well as Law, after all."

Klavier raises both eyebrows, smiling.

"Really? Why didn't you say it before? We're both artists, then."

"Well, I'm nowhere near as talented. I don't think calling myself an artist is fair."

"Looking at the stars just to appreciate their longevity shows that your mind has an artistic side... And I would like to know more about it, if you want?"

Phoenix looks down to hide his nervousness under his beanie, blushing slightly. In that moment, Klavier realizes that the fear he thought he saw on his face a moment ago is something nicer.

"I could, uh, show you my work sometime, if you don't mind having been drawn…"

Klavier smiles, leaning closer in that way that characterizes him.

"And I could show you the songs I'm writing, if you don't mind being the protagonist of them!"

Author's note: I always liked the idea of Phoenix still being artistic in some way even after becoming a lawyer instead of an artist. I think that trait of him would surprise the characters who never knew what he studied in his youth, especially Klavier who's a singer!
